This October has been started with mournful news. The death of Steve Jobs was now joins the death-last-weekend of MacAlister Rithcie Dennis , co-creator of the Unix operating system and father of the C programming language

This engineer graduate in physics and mathematics at the University of Harvard helped design and development of this system with Brian Wilson Kernighan, and contribute to the creation of the programming language C.

As announced in Google + one of the team members of Computing Science Research Group at Bell Laboratories which developed the Unix operating system, Robert Pike, Dennis Ritchie died last weekend, victim of a long illness.

Rob Pike has said about Ritchie, through Google's social network, which "confident that there are people who appreciate the scope of their contributions and mourn his death properly." And is that "the world has lost a truly great mind," he concluded.

Turning Ritchie was awarded in 1983 by the generic operating systems theory and the National Medal of Technology in the U.S. in 1998. In 2007, when the computer was finally retired, after being head of systems software research at Alcatel-Lucent.

  • MeeGo offers application development environment Qt, and is based on the capabilities of the Moblin operating system kernel and user experience references. Using Qt, developers can write once to create applications for a variety of devices and platforms, and market them through the Nokia Ovi Store and Intel AppUpSM Center.
  • MeeGo will be hosted by the Linux Foundation and governed using the best practices model of open source development. The first version of MeeGo is expected in the second quarter of 2010 with the release of devices later this year.
